I seen the movie it was so sad and happy at the same time. Idk, why but I am super addicted to this anime. The second one wows me.
I just hope they keep this up because it is pretty popular.

I enjoyed both seasons for the most part although I get why some might not like it after the seriousness of the first season gives way to some more light-hearted adventures and Kirito turning into the MMORPG police especially during the Gungale arc. It's also not the most original concept for an anime given dot hack did something similar a good 10 years prior.
I'm not going to hate on it overall, but I will say what Aniplex tries to get for the Blurays for the show are borderline highway robbery compared to most other places like rightstuf and deep discount, especially during a lot of their sales.

The scenes with Liz falling for him and realizing she had no chance tugged at my heart strings a bit.
I wasn't familiar with the dot hack series and usually the people who bash on SAO say that Log Horizon is better. I'm interested to check it out but just haven't had the chance yet.

I prefer the novel to the anime.Anime felt to rushed during certain story arcs. Season one is story arc 1-2, season two is arc 3-4, there is still a few more arcs that happen after Mother's Rosario (arc 4, last five episodes of season 2.) You still have the Alicization arc to deal with if they want to continue the anime.

I know the author was a fan of the dot hack multimedia series (augh, my favorite series) and wanted to make something similar but he kinda haremized it, really. Out of all the stuck-in-an-mmo-world-can't-get-out, he does really well with the story line but it doesn't give the "average joe" feel like the series that comes after it and takes place in the future. Now that I look back, I preferred Accel World because it actually felt more in tune with what he originally tried to do. SAO went from starting off great but fell into an oversaturated genre of anime. I couldn't connect with Kirito the way I connected with Hariyuki. I highly recommend it by the way. Really wasn't that popular with the Western audience for some reason.

Also the light novels came before both the anime and the manga. I believe the manga started after the anime or a little before. Can't remember.
