Any real dating sites that have success?

chocopyro
Yeah, basically my experience with other dating sites and the word "success" boils down to: http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/nichijou/images/b/bf/ROFL.gif My chances may be better elsewhere, but most of the girls who contact me on places like Okcupid are looking to have kids and/or someone to help raise them, not relationships. (And no, single parents in and of themselves aren't a big deal to me.) And the people that do want relationships seem to idealize me as something I'm not. Add to that, I'm not very convinced that many people I talk to on those sites have even seen of a video game before. So its difficult to connect with them. I came here because I kinda have this arbitrary "you must be at least this nerdy for me to relate to you" kinda thing, as entitled as that makes me sound. But you know? My imagination and my interests are how I connect to people. And generally, people within the various nerd cultures have a sense of introvert needs that others don't. And sure, as introverts go, I am pretty low maintenance, basically being the kinda plant you don't need to water so much, just as long as you sit me on the shelf and give me my time to photosynthesize. There's also the fact that I am on the asexual spectrum, which lets face it, makes me an alien life form in places outside of here. I guess what it boils down to is I may be an adult, and I am looking for another adult, but I still need someone who hasn't lost touch of their inner child. And here is the only site I've found anyone like that.

I met my boyfriend 9 months ago on plenty of fish so it is possible to meet people. Having said that you can't expect to meet you dream partner in an instant. You have to put yourself out there and be what someone is looking for which unfortunately that isn't always the case. I guess you kind of have to sell yourself to get peoples attention.

Yes, I agree. That's exactly what you do. Heck, even in real life, it's no different. I guess another aspect more than the site is where you live and what kinds of people are in your area.

I didn't really post all that I have done but I've been well engaged in all matters of life and my 1 goal is to find someone but all for nothing as of far. If you can think of it I have done it even doing nothing at all. The compatibility must be low. I don't believe in destiny or anything like that but maybe luck so yes it seems my luck is low and my search will go on. Nothing comes easy and I imagine I will die alone but trying is all I can do and ignore and learn from the lucky ones.

I have to agree with Lenny, a lot of people out there expect instant results from dating sites without taking much time to inform others of who they are. It is a natural thing to want to develop and display yourself *after* meeting that potential special someone, so crafting a strong profile can at times fall to the waist-side and become an after thought. It is a big reason why I wish more dating sites had forums much akin to this one. You get a stronger sense and idea of an individual as you explore forums and see familiar names pop up every so often with their thoughts, feelings, and opinions on varied topics. It kinda builds a comfort zone for users to approach people they may not have prior by getting a small hint of what they are like when communicating to others.

Nah, I just get creepy older men going after me. I deleted one of my accounts because this guy kept asking me (excuse the language), "Do you like d*ck or p*ssy more?". I just want a gentleman or just a kind buff dude. XD

Never Pay for any. Okcupid, POF, meetme are a few. beaware of the obvious prostitutes, kikwhores, etc. though usually its easy to spot them. also, only message newest users. its pointless to contact others that are on recently or whatever, they usually already have 300+ messages from dudes and will not read your message or care much of what you have to say. This is from past experience. i quit dating sites october of last year not counting mai otaku.
