Let's go through your logic then. I am a woman. It is bad to punch down. Punching down implies an inferiority. You cannot punch down against women. Women are inferior to men, therefore you cannot joke against woman. No, woman are equal to men. You don't get a special pass because your a woman. Woman can be made fun of in just the same way that men can. I make fun of men here too. Why would I only make fun of men and not women too? Only making fun of men would be inherently sexist. Now, on the handicap thing. The objective of jokes is too laugh. The objective of jokes isn't to apply your own subjective moral standard and then tell others what should or should not be funny. Get off your high horse. The It doesn't matter if it's punching down or up. Anything is fair game.

no, i never said that it is punching down to make fun of a marginalized class of people, like handicap people, women, and minorities i do think anything can be made fun of but things arent black and white. variables exist. racists jokes are funny until you hear them from a racist, and all of a sudden you realize this isn't a joke, they believe this jokes arent jokes when they become statements to the person telling the joke, or the person listening to the joke just as you shouldn't tell a 'retarded joke' to someone with a mental retardation when you dont know if they will be hurt by it how morality works is through net positives, net negetaives and net neutrals if i tell an offensive joke and it makes me laugh, that is a net positive because i am happy but if someone is harmed by that joke it becomes a net negative for them and a net negeitve will always outweigh a net positive and this isn't my subjective feelings, this is just how we as a society view moral positives and moral negetive

the issue with making jokes about marginalized people is that its like a punch to the arm first time its like whatever but then the spot keeps getting punched all their lives so its understandable that its sore like, not even empathy is needed to understand this just common sense
