I agree with you about Re:Zero, in fact I didn't even finish it lol. I dropped it on episodes nine because I was so damn bored, I don't get how you could fuck up so bad in making a show like this. I mean sure, it's nothing original but the whole groundhog day time reset is just an inherently interesting concept, all that was needed was some semi-interesting characters, maybe some minor world building, you know like an interesting way this new fantasy world works kind of like how in No Game, No Life everything is decided by games, anything to break the mold in your basic Isekai but nah, we got nothing. Everything was as boring and basic as it could get with the exceptions of time reset and brutal deaths. If I had to narrow it down to one sentence then I'd say the reason I was bored it because it has absolutely no identity of it's own, it's soulless. And for Franxx, I'm not finishing it lol. I watched about 7 episodes, I really like the design of the robots, I think they look awesome and I think 02 is extremely pretty and charming but those were really the only things that stuck out to me and they weren't enough to hold my interest. Some of the action was cool but not cool enough to keep me watching.

Narrative gems are hard to find even if it’s cliche something can still be good and impactful despite its flaws. Major 2nd Happens to be my fav anime of The]is and last season. Even though generic and predictable it still follows the formula decently and is entertaining even as a sports anime because characters go point A to point Z and grow amazingly although some boring episodes it’s entertaining enough to hold me over the more popular anime

Another issue I have with shows is Comedey shows, Generally I’ve watched enough anime and read enough manga to know it feels like I’m forcing myself to laugh rather than actually laughing. Hinamatsuri when it was Airing was like a “Ha ha that’s funny” and not something to die over tbh and it slowly got overly bland as most anime comedy is Gag humor and shock value which loses its touch when you get the feeling of how all their punch lines work by episodes 4-6 when ideas are usually used up or to predictable and it’s not even ironic. It’s to the point where most people I’ve known go this is funny and here I am not laughing at all except for their sake and not the anime. But a lot of this stuff wears out it’s welcome by episode 4 when they ran through their ideas solidly and the rest of the show is reiterating it. Almost every single comedy anime tbh
