I grew up on Toonami but I stopped watching anime for a while. The show that got me back into loving anime was Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood!!

Started with Dragon Ball Z at 530 and 6pm on Toonami. First episode I saw was Vegeta vs Goku beam struggle. Next was Pokémon at 7 am Mon thru Fri before school and 10am on Saturday. First episode was 13, Mystery at the Lighthouse. At that time I did not even know about anime vs cartoons... Then everything changed when the Hormone nation attacked. I got a crush on a girl in high school, and she was into Naruto, and I got into it. I first saw on TV when they met Zabuza. Then I discovered the Internet and could watch things from episode one. High school was the turning point of life... Final nail in the coffin was Bleach. The first episode I saw was when I stumbled into an anime club my crush happened to lead, and the episode was Ichigo defeating 3 Vice Captains, after destroying Sogyoku, and clashing with Byakuya. From there I started watching anime in Japanese subtitled in English and never looked back. I live on NYC btw. Any further information shall be given to the friendly. You need only ask :)

This is a hard question for me because my dad is a huge nerd and I was raised as an otaku, plus all of my childhood shows seemed to be anime even if people didn't openly consider them as such (pokemon, digimon etc.) I want to say yuyu hakusho is what really kicked it off for me, although I remember before that I was really into cardcaptors (the terribly done english dub/edit of cardcaptor sakura) and sailor moon

Hello everyone! I am not a suspicious person! I suppose it just depends on where you'd draw the line for me. I wasn't really into anime until I was in middle school which I started with Naruto and it grew on me after watching Rock Lee's fight against Gaara. I got hooked! But before that I'd been like most kids my age and had been watching Yu-gi-oh!, Pokemon, Dragon Ball Z, the standard stuff. Before that I'd seen most of the Ghibli movies as well too. They were so fantastic, but I never considered them "anime-anime", even though they most definitely are. It's hard to say. Even worse is that I had taken it for granted for most of my life but thanks to my grandparents in Japan, I grown up watching old VHS copies of television cartoons. Most of which were Doraemon lol. What can I say? I guess I always loved it. Just didn't know it until middle school.

Hello. I'm Tsumi, 26 years old. My first anime was Serendipity, which I'm sure no one has ever heard of. My parents rented it for me when I was tiny and we kept renting it. Now I have my own copy. XD The ones that truly got me into anime were Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball (both of which I didn't know where anime at the time), and finally Yu Yu Hakusho (which I did know was one).
akuron
My name is Akuro I watched a few anime before, but Hajime no ippo turned me into an otaku for sure :).
