Two-for-one question

jikokun
1.) What are some old school video games that you can play over and over without getting tired of? That doesnt mean you cant have breaks in between, but games that you can keep going back to. For sake of this question, ANYTHING Final fantasy or popular square title are banned from the list. 2.) When replaying new games, do you use cheats (Game shark, speed mods, etc) to make the game progress go along faster? The cutoff for "Old school games" would be PS1 era game. Bonus points for more obscure gems that I'd be interested in looking into. Duplicate games will be accepted, but kinda frowned upon as it really doesnt add anything new to the discussion. To start, one of my favourite and more indepth games I played was SoulBlazer. absolutely LOVE the game. While kinda easy, it still offers somewhat of a challenge for players. Ready...go!

Why are square titles banned exactly if you're asking what is a game that we can play over and over again? Some of the old school squaresoft games were and still are considered the best games ever. Take chrono trigger for example. Any1 who has played it i'm sure has played it multiple times. With that said ChronoTrigger is probably the only game even now that i still dive into. The story was just fantastic and even offers an air of mystery on the real life. At least for me

Because they're severely overused. As mentioned, I'd like to hear from some obscure gems people love.

1. Any of the NES or SNES era Castlevania, Contra or Double Dragon games I replay quite a bit. 2. Cheating is bad :/ unless it's against other players :D

Only reason I mentioned cheating is since I'm sure you beat the game legit already and just want to play a little more interestingly. I'm not talking lv 99 at the beginning of the game with all uber weapons/stats, but things like infinite gold, items that dont run out, etc.

Chro-oh. Fin-wait. Super Mario R-dammit! Can't go wrong with the first Metal Gear Solid. For NES and SNES, can't go wrong with Mega Man/X. Metroid, nuff said. Child Me loved The Granstream Saga on the PS1, those were different times. Definitely Breath of Fire, mostly 2 and 3. Eh, I only cheated when I was younger and wanted all the pokemons and infinite lives. These days I just enjoy seeing what I've improved on after beating the game and going through it again, or imposing some rules to help make things interesting, sometimes seeing how quickly I can finish at times.

Neptunia, Melee and Dragonica. Games i'll never get tired of. There's no cheat codes for these games so I can't really answer them o-o

@Tetsita I actually restarted up SoM about 2 weeks ago. I love that game. @Sweetdeath I never heard of them, I'll have to look them up
