Is harem anime pure fan service?

ok so lets get down it... if anyone actually sees this. here is my view, yes there is a lot of fan service in harem anime but there are some that do have more. there are some that do have an interesting story,plot and/or characters. what does everyone else think?

My avatar disagrees with it being pure fan service... if your unfamiliar Kodaka is from the Harem anime.... Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai.. or Haganai for short.... it's a Harem story... that's.... somewhat different.

I'm inclined to disagree, not all harem animes are fanservice driven, the higurashi series had like zero fanservice, altho I'm prolly wrong in thinking that as a harem type deal, hmmm, maybe Ah! My Goddess?, that did kind of have a harem element to it, but *almost* zero fanservice there, ( heh, maybe a teeny bit) also Kanon (2006) had a harem thing going on (i think, might be mistaken), but little or no fanservice, so overall, i say Nay!, good day sir :P party on and a hat tip to ya

Schizzo i am more talking about ones that do have some fan service like say... sekirei, suffle, and things like that. if they are only fan service. i dont think they are because some of them i really like as you may see on my anime list. some of them have some really good characters. also the plots/stories i have found to be very interesting. i posted this topic after one of my fellow otaku friends was razzing me about liking them
