I was enclosed, alone, afraid You let me out You gave me permission to be myself You've honestly been a very big help My debt will be repaid Thank you I was trampled on, disregarded, worthless You made me significant You stood for me taking my ridicule Adjacent to me in the pointless ritual So every day I was a little less nervous Thank you You never sat away or aside You actually cared that I had something to hide The shallow mask that shatters with time The fruit of the flesh when it was most prime You never looked for these things inside me You treated those moments with serendipity Others would go on and on about their pain Cursing the missing drop in their fortune river Yet here you stood No angle or deceit but kind words delivered Thank you For noticing me in that shell For seeing something more For reaching your hand Right into the core And pulling me free Thank you for allowing me to be Thank you It's been a while now I have new allies They have kind hearts But still stand under guise Well I'll be different I see inside is a gem You reached your hand out for me So I'll do so for them
