I think splitting money equally is dumb. If someone comes into a relationship with nothing to their name yet leave with half your wealth, it doesnt seem fair. You essentially worked hours of your life you wont get back just so someone you no longer love (or still do but feeling isnt mutual) can just rob you of your hard earned money. Once upon a time you shared your life with this person yes, but if they arent a part of your life anymore why can they rob you of year you wont get back AS well leave you essentially half as stable as you were before.

Yeah child support and stuff is justified i feel. You should be helping your kids out as a parent or whatever. Although that in itself has its issues (such as moms not using it for the kid at all, or people who moved on and start a new family being stuck providing for an old one) you should at least take care of your kid.
