Been looking around for info on how it all works but I'm getting scraps of info at best.
I mean I see people on youtube linking their ebook stuff and small publishing houses offering start up fees, etc. etc.
Its all very confusing.

So you want to look into publishing your product or setting up your own publishing company?
if its the former; what are you publishing?

The former. Writing a novel that I want published.
But I want to look into all the dealings and legislation and copyright. Info is hard to come by though.
I know of many types of deals you can have to get published. Though most only know of the one, where they submit a manuscript and get approved by a publisher and paid a price for the full copyright with no royalties-usually pennies but resold at an inflated price in terms of licences. But no comprehensive info on the inner workings of such deals and alternatives.

A friend that is a published author said that the easiest way to get published is to self-publish digitally. Don't know if that helps, but that's what he told me.

The easiest way to get published is to self-publish digitally as jack said. It helps open the gate for you. And you don't really have to worry so much about hitting a certain release, like so many books in your series or whatever the case is. Plus, you handle all the dealings yourself.
