It's considered taboo now due to sociological reasons, none of which have to do with peoples lifespans rising. Just because ones lifespan rises doesn't mean what was presently socially accepted changes; The one has nothing to do with the other. It would be like our current AoC being 18 in America. If our average lifespan increased to 100, are you, by your logic, telling me the new AoC should be raised to 25 since we now live longer?

@latemerry yeah the age of consent is the age of consent but technically we are no different than animals. (which do tend to have sexual intercourse at young ages) the whole point of sex is to produce offspring so we dont become extinct. in that sense it doesnt matter what age you are as long as you can reproduce. it has nothing to do with being "mature enough to make decisions about their sexual lives". we just make it a big deal just like we make wearing clothing a big deal. dont get me wrong though im not for having sex that young, i believe the right age is 18. im just saying.

That's not what I argued though. Yeah, point is to reproduce at the core of it. But he was talking about sociological reasons not animal instinct. Edit: Its an argument on lifespan being apart of the social taboo on the age of consent. Social taboo kind of develops against instinct. Like you mentioned. Wearing clothes is a big deal, but its not necessary. Social taboo to walk around naked. It has something to do with being "mature enough to make decisions about their sexual lives" if you are looking at this from a social standpoint instead of technicalities. Which again..is. not. the. argument.
