Anyways, sorry if this got a little off-topic, I just noticed discussion going on and thought I'd offer my two cents. >EVERY where reaper goes, conflict seems to follow. People don't seem to realize I do know what I'm talking about, so that causes problems.

Oh i thought i was on the ragna thread for a second. LOL

Ummm....you guys are forgetting medical issues (like thyroid) and genetics playing a huge role in some people being overweight. I know several people that are overweight and eat about the same as me but the above mentioned problems are the biggest reasons. My ex has an H cup, it causes her back and neck problems along with being overweight. She's been trying to get a reduction for years since she can't afford it herself but insurance makes it as complicated as possible so they don't have to pay for it. On top of that she has social anxiety so bad that she can't hold on to a job. She's tried and any stress has her in the bathroom vomiting. None of that is "her choice"!

@Elder I understand what you mean. I've been diagnosed with Asperger, have been diagnosed with OCD, although I've had a lot of therapy which ensures that I don't really fit into that category anymore. I've also been suicidal and had some very traumatic experiences with my father being depressed, burned-out and bordering on suicidal. What I'm trying to say is: I get that it offends you. When I look around me and here people say things like "people don't change" or "it's genetics" that can piss me of too, because that would mean all the progress I've been through so far doesn't mean a thing and I refuse to accept that. Having said that, from your story I gather that you are have a strong will and are probably very disciplined. That's a character trait that many people lack. I don't know who's fault that might be, though. Maybe it's due to the way they were raised or maybe it has something to do with the fact that some people (probably you included) had to develop those traits to survive. In the end I just think I'm not a fan of blaiming large groups of people or even individual people when it comes to that, but I do really understand your frustration

@Mango I think the problem in this discussion is that both sides are correct: some people have no choice and some people use things as excuses. In the end it probably has most to do with personality and illness, because it is diffucult to go around either.

> But a lot of people can't help it. Its not just an excuse. You misunderstood what I said. I was directly referring to people with illnesses using them constantly as excuses. >you guys are forgetting medical issues (like thyroid) and genetics playing a huge role in some people being overweight Yes, they can play a role. Which is why there's medical assistance for these disorders. My aunt has Hashimoto's and is overweight, but at least she doesn't use it as an excuse for not being able to do something. You seek treatment. And there's income based health insurance available now - i pay $39 for decent coverage, doctor's visits cost me nothing. >have a friend that's has polycystic ovarian syndrome And that's fine - I was specifically referring to obese people - obese meaning over BMI of 40 or 30% body fat index. My problem is that I have knee problems and I have to occasionally take medicine to ensure my joints don't destroy themselves. But obese people take the same meds now, so I have to pay 3x the cost for drugs to keep my knees working properly because someone decided to eat everything in sight. And I always hate when a fat girl tells me "You're too shallow" for telling her no, I'm not interested. Its wrong.
