OblivionsReaper, to make the group on mobile, you will need two people (who are interested in the group) so in total, the group will start with three including you. Open a chat with one of the people and below, on the left, you will see a "+" which is to add another person to the conversation. Now add the other person to the conversation then the group will form.

I know how to make one, and I can add whoever wants to join. I know some people are shy about talking, and you can just regularly type. I for one have a soft/succinct southern accent. So you shouldn't worry to much about how you sound :P. A good conversationalist who has been doing this for a while can easily break any awkward silence.
