Survival Horror enthusiast and hardcore jojo/hxh person

traumaticsherry
I created my account yesterday but I didn't check out the forums until today so I'm making my introduction here. I'm here for social reasons~ I'm big into video games, especially oldschool survival horror. Anime/manga wise I tend to be critical of everything but that doesn't always stop me from liking something. My favorite manga of all time is Eyeshield 21. I wish I could say it's my favorite anime too but the animated adaptation was just a visually animated mess. My other favorite series are Yugioh, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (Fav Jojo is Giorno and fav part is Vento Aureo), Hunter x Hunter, Kuroshitsuji, Berserk, and Ergo Proxy. My favorite character of all time is Shanks from One Piece °˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖°

Welcome to the community, hope you enjoy your stay. and I'd say we have the RE thing in common, but i'm assuming you don't enjoy the newer ones at all. (i like 4 as an re game, 5 and 6 as their own separate entities and not as re games >.> I don't count gaiden, ORC or the new one either.)

Yeah I don't dig 4 and the games after 4 that much. I mean 4 is good but that's it.

I dunno, the way i see it for 5 and 6 is that in general, they are fun to play. at least for me. but the concept of them being bad games as a whole is more or less people thinking it cause they aren't good RE games. Though, I don't mind how they expand upon the story and lore for RE. But to be fair, I'm not a fan of the tank controls and camera angles of the originals either. I've always felt (even when they were new) that it hurt the games more than helped for the horror aspect. that being said, the newer games definitely aren't survival horror either. I wish there was a nice balance. But I doubt capcom will ever truly do survival horror again e.e since they want to be "hip" and think survival horror is dead >.>

Uhh. Having controls that are very basic and limiting, making you feel vulnrable isnt exactly a bad thing for horror. When you arent vulnrable, then the horror aspect diminishes...
lugexd
yeah, but there are better ways to do it aside for making your controls feel like you're controlling a tank. you can still feel vulnerable and have good controls. i mean, the controls and camera for the 4/5/6 would actually work for a survival horror game, as there are other ways to do it. they just didn't do it in those ways. they decided to focus on just making it grotesque instead. but the other thing is, people think horror is all about fear. fear is subjective. everyone fears different things. which even can be considered to the idea of the controls, not necessarily does it make people feel vulnerable. it can also just seem annoying, hence why i call them tanky controls. they were just purely annoying to me. but, back then they were limited technology wise as well. i personally haven't played the remakes yet, so i have no idea if they made the controls more fluid or not.

but its also all opinion anyways.

Hello there! ^u^ Welcome to MO! ^u^

I found tank controls easy and they the best when used for fixed camera. You occasionlly will run into a few problems when you play fixed camera games without tank controls like Devil May Cry. If we are talking tank control and more action and physically manuevering games like Tomb Raider, I feel like tank had to eventually go. But in things like old RE, you really don't need to manuever the best. Not to mention tank just isn't hard.
