Things I Learned By Going To Conventions

Only going to list some so others can add to it or elaborate. I learned that Funimation has more than a few pervy people working for them. Yuri vs Yaoi can be a pretty intense debate. Voice actors are fun to talk to about everything. Almost everyone is nice and you fit in with everyone. I want to learn how to cosplay as well as these people. You need more money. You can never have enough water. A lot of people do proposals at conventions. You can get a lot of different connections for jobs, groups, or whatever. What else has everyone learned?

I learned you will have a much better time if you toss the schedule away. Seriously, pick out maybe your top 2 or 3 "must attend" events like a premiere or party but let yourself wander and explore for the rest of the weekend. You'll find a lot new and interesting events and meet new people and overall just have a better time if you let everything take you by surprise rather than rushing from hall to hall to keep a schedule.

The 18+ pannels are awesome, I learned and saw many magnificent and horrifying things. Not sure about not scheduling stuff though. I would rather just go to a random panel if I can't find one that I want to go to.

-w- mine aren't as cheery. -Be open to socialize but do be too open to everyone -going alone suck but you can go to panels to have fun -Social confidence/ Social skill is the real way you make friends -cosplay DOES NOT garuntee conversation or friends -going with friend is fun but you might miss panels you wanna go to if you hang with them the whole time -buying a badge is only worth it for dealers room and panels (you can make friends and not pay the $50+) -DRINK WITH CAUTION -Hope for the best but prepare for the worse - the raves don't wanna be guardians of your bags. put them in your hotel or car -18+ PANELS FOR LYFE!!! -Playing board games is a great way to make acquaintances -GET NUMBERS AND CONTACT INFO!!! - don't do looking for a "Bae" -when doing hotel parties get dat money first, yo! -make a chat so they get to know each other for the con!! -have each person bring a snack for the room to share!! - if you wanna make friends, make it known or apparent (signs work ^u^) -Some people wanna talk and make friends, but are hella shy to. if this is you, try to make it known you're just shy and not anti-social These are only a few of several

-Unless your cosplay is on the ultimate level, don't expect too much attention even if you worked hard on it -You can wait until the last few hours of the con to get better deals at the dealer's room -Don't do the previous one because it's going to be sold out -Don't go alone, it sucks -Going alone is better than going with someone you hate or don't like, but it's still going to suck -Acting like your character can be a good conversation starter -If you're looking for friends, talk to people that seem bored out of their mind -If they don't seem too busy or surrounded by photographers, talk to people you take pictures of, it's nice and you can learn something and even get friends -There can be some shady people around the con's building, avoid them if you think you should -Beware of creepy pervs. Pervs are nice people but a few of them are really shameless and depraved. I don't know how much exactly but we had to comfort a friend for several minutes because of them

-Find a restroom as soon as you arrive. -If you plan on showing up at 10am and stay till 1am then wear running shoes. Your feet will thank you later. -Your cosplay will never have enough pockets. -Voice actors don't know a single thing about the shows they voice for so quit asking them about upcoming episodes or seasons. -Con food, snacks and vending machines are always super expensive. -Deodorant, people! -Brush your teeth too! -Bring headphones if you're rooming with someone who snores.

I learn to be a smart shopper, know when not to buy. There are aways deals to be found. I learn that to be on time for panels I want to see since sets can fill up fast. I learn to aways have a list of surveil things I need for the day I go, since I only do one day at the con ( chargers, lunch and diner, head phones, bandages, towel in car, extra shirt in car, water) I could become friends with anyone at a con. Since we are all there to show our fandom. I learn so much. It is surprising
