What attracts you to certain animes?

Tri Tri <3 Dark themes (psychological stuff) A lil just a lil blood and gore (maybe a lot) Action/Martial Arts Ecchi Demons Vampires Same with me.

a sense of heart, whatever the genre. escapism. morally grey, intelligent things. i'm a sucker for pretty boys. a good soundtrack always helps. i currently feel quite drawn to the notion of 'dark but hopeful'. for all my love of fantasy, there is something very human about that. and i suffer from depression.

Dark shows that make me think. Or funny shows that can laugh at themselves. Some of the modern action shows that just look pretty...

I like sci-fi/fantasy so in general quite a lot of my anime viewing is based on that, but i'll watch most things though i tend to avoid the rubbish that hinges on heavy amounts of fan service to sell the show, if all it is is "plot" and no actual story past the harem cliche i generally won't watch it.

Art style, storyline. I generally like romance comedy but I'll also go for something more serious if it has a crazy intense storyline to it.

Characters with likable yet strong personality. Not just to the main characters, but the villains and secondary characters. (Togashi Yoshihiro's work Yu Yu Hakusho and Hunter x Hunter for the most part does this well.) Supernatural powers/action-like/fantasy. (Hakkenden: Touhou Hakken Ibun, Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi, Akatsuki no Yona *I guess*... Dramatical Murder...Though I prefer the game...) SHOUNEN AI/YAOI. I love that stuff. Sorry not sorry. (Dramatical Murder OVA, Sekaiichi Hatsukoi, Junjou Romantica, Close the last Door, Kosuru Boukun, Hybrid Child, Loveless, Gravitation, Mirage of Blaze, "Kono Danshi" series, Tight rope, Embracing Love, I like what I like, so there!...) There aren't enough out there. :( I like certain sports ones i.e. Kuroko no Basuke and Haikyuu!... But it's mostly because of the characters. :P
