Not much of an Anime person nowadays...

Tiger have you tried any of the darker ones? Like more serious or adult themed ones? Psycho-Pass, Code:Breaker, Fate/Stay? Actually the prequel Fate/Zero was way more darker and appealing, just finished it up. Even Ghost Hunt takes on a more serious theme though it does have a lot of high school aged characters in it. It just seems like the themes you listed are targeted for young adults or guys with the fan service.

Oh and to add, all the ones I listed are dubbed. The whole sub vs dub debate is the dumbest argument within anime fandom. I don't feel like I've lost anything out of the stories in translation and happen to like many American/Canadian voice actors. So you watched everything in subs? Well good for you because while you were reading I got to focus on the animation and listen leisurely. XD... It just doesn't make sense that there's even arguments about it really.

Darker? My specialty, try Corpse Party, Elfen Lied, Higurashi, Mirai Nikki, Deadman Wonderland, Texhnolyze, Serial Experiments Lain, RIN: Daughters of Mnemosyne.

Lol those too Neko but I was going darker not full blown midnight. 8P

Haha, yeah, I'm a bit of a goth so I tend to like stuff like that.

Personally, I like moe anime, but I've seen a few that are decidedly average lately, so I guess I get the point of your OP to an extent. Fan service bothers me though. Jinsei is a good example of an anime that fan service ruined for me, if memory serves. It was funny and interesting, but the women were pointlessly sexualised and a lot of situations seemed incredibly contrived and plain dumb. I also feel like that Gamer Siblings anime (I legitimately am both blanking and too lazy too look up the title. No pun intended.) gimped itself hard by including fan service. I found it fascinating, but the fanservice kinda cheapened it for me. I wonder what the novels are like. I also straight up don't get the problem with anime based on light novels. Sorry if you cover it later; I only really read the OP. The opinions expressed above represent my views and I respect that yours may differ, probably for good reasons. I also basically don't check the forums, so sorry if I don't respond.

I don't mind some fan service but get's annoying when overdone (like tons of oversized boobs). ^No Game No Life? It had only a mild amount of fan service, like the bath scenes. I actually wouldn't mind more but I'm a perv and incest anime lover (kissxsis anyone?). Some just get cliche with tons of hot girls trying to get with one guy, who always tries to turn them down. Only realistic anime in that vein was School Days because he bangs every girl he can like most guys actually would.

Good, now focus on more important things in life that really matters.

So? Should we sing you a melancholic ballad to mirror the downfall of anime? In my honest opinion anime didn't get better or worse. Tokyo Ghoul and Love Parade are fairly new and I adore them. On the other hand I really dislike some of the old-school anime. Annoyingly many people who have been in a scene for a certain time start whining about how the ol' days were soooo much better. Very commonly seen in the music industry. And I don't know if you realise it but by relying on dubs rather than subs you minimise the amount of different animes you can watch by a huge lot.
