Xypho-kun you are correct. Guns are pretty close to the least useful things in being safe from guns. Unless the bullet fired at you happens to ricochet off of your gun. Bullet resistant material however... That's the ticket. Additionally in my state, no license in required to own a gun. So any dingbat can get a gun. Lastly owning a gun is becoming an decreasingly effective means of stopping home invasions or robberies. One thing all of this Call of Duty and Battlefield is teaching individuals one thing: tactics. My father, who is a cop, warns me that now some felons are turning to the pack mentality. Attacking people 3 or 4 at a time from different directions so you can't shoot them all. People break in through the front door and back door at the same time, or in a couple of windows. You damn near will have to draw a battle plan in the future.

Not at all, I agree with you quite a bit. The gun laws in the US are a part of the history kind of thing. Kings sending soldiers to fuck with you and natives trying to kill you for stealing their land kind of thing. You know... Problem is, the situation has evolved from the days of yore. Mind you I own 4 firearms. I probably will come to possess perhaps a couple more. They are for sport by and large. No need for extended magazines, rapid fire or any of that foolishness. My pistol I will start to bring with me when the situation calls for it. But that will be sparingly. I felt every time I've bought a gun, it was just too easy. Especially in the case of the handgun. But there's little that changing that aspect will do to curb the number if mass shootings. On the subject of kitchen-knife-thingies, they can cause as much damage as a gun albeit via different principles. But their effective killing range and radius is far far shorter, limiting casualties and deaths. Even with the most skilled practitioner, the kills/minute ratio is significantly lower. The reason militaries use guns instead of swords, rocks and knives is that swords, rocks and knives are less deadly a weapon (all controllable variables being equal).

@HauntedDollQueen That "Typical Introvert" comment was totally uncalled for, myself and many ppl on this website are introverts, and as an Introvert I take offense to that comment, and FYI I know about this and read about it in the Yahoo news, yet this is coming from an introvert. Think before making another nonsense comment in the future.
