Do you hide your power level in public settings?

donnierye
and by power level, I mean do you hide the fact that you're an otaku weeb loser nerd? I do, but I'm not as into anime/manga and it's culture as most people here are. I'm mostly exposed to anime from my other hobbies. I spent a lot of time studying music in high school and college, and after I graduated, did a lot of work being in a band, songwriting for others, and being a session/recording artist. Naturally I would listen to music from all around the world, and my liking of Japanese rock eventually led me to looking up songs that were actually anime openings or songs that just have an anime music video and that's pretty much how it started. I'm into fighting games, which has close ties to anime. As most fighting games are developed in Japan. aaand I also like art, and I'm learning to draw/paint, myself. Sometimes I will look at manga and study it, even though I'm not really interested in drawing in that style myself. but would I ever tell anyone this to people at work or that I just meet in a restaurant or grocery store or something? Nah. and would I ever wear an anime shirt or have an anime wallpaper on my phone? Most definitely not. What about you nerds?

I am proud. I wear my bleach, SailorMoon, or Naruto shirt out in the open. When I run into other people who like the same things as me. We have an insta friend moment. I have a Vampire Knight scroll poster hanging in my room. And I'm always on the look out for good anime. Or books or games or even art. I draw some but not as well as most people. This is my deviantart where I post my drawings. Or my attempts http://sailiel.deviantart.com/gallery/30837988/drawings

I wear all my anime attire to work (work in a corporate setting) even have a Trafalgar Law Hat I wear just about everyday. ....I like your paragraph OP but I don't feel like typing all my things out so I'm just gonna copy and paste to make things easier.... Disclaimer:(Not really me but it makes my life easier) I spent a lot of time studying music in high school and college, and after I graduated, did a lot of work being in a band, songwriting for others, and being a session/recording artist. Used to be when I was younger and dumber I'd flaunt it. I'd blast Japanese music from my car covered in anime related decals. Thinking back on it now makes me cringe a bit. These days the furthest I'd go is a small keychain of my waifu, and even that feels like a bit much.

Same as neet-one. When I was younger I wore shirts and would blast JROCK cruising in my Supra to troll the Homie-G Bass mobiles. And of course I had to drift that car listening to the Initial D soundtrack. I mostly hide it except <-- My avatar is the same one I use at work for Lync/Skype meetings. I sometimes get PMs from co-workers asking what it is from. My boss also randomly started talking to me about Attack On Titan and never expressed interest in anime before. Otaku are out there where you least expect it.

I don't think I understand. Why would anyone want to willingly go out into public? But when I am forced to go out and get groceries or do laundry on any given weekend, I'll be wearing my Black Rock Shooter, It's over 9000 shirt (which was actually a gift), Derpy Hooves, Isabelle is my waifu, or various rock band t-shirts. I'll even wear my Brony ball cap to work on days when this mess on my head is putting up a greater fight than I can overcome. I've got my mp3 player set to play all so my car will occasionally blast the random anime opening/ending theme. And when everyone in the office decides to leave early on some afternoons, I'll blast Vocaloids in our department.

I barely have any items, since I moved so much and non-otakus (family) have tossed out my otaku stuff. But I really couldn't care to hide or not, I seek out fellow otakus. I mean when I run into them and I am with a non-otaku the non-otaku watches as we otakus have a full blown conversation all positive in less than 5 minutes and then end the conversation as we know we are all busy and wander off to do our own thing.
