Well, Scandinavian languages are just Northern Germanic, with the same roots the English, Dutch, and German languages have. And even if you didn't want that route (or root, haha, language puns), Old Norse impacted English via the Vikings

Yeah Troll means troll. The word might have originated from the Russian song Trololo because it was basically a "troll" to the CCCP/USSR government that back then censored the lyrics of a lot of music if it was anyhow thought provoking. The song Trololo has no actual lyrics. The artist basically said "Watcha gonna censor now?" Or it refers to trolls as in ugly creatures who sit in their dark caves and only produce shit.

xynox -- The 'trololo' part was actually due to a disagreement. The original version was a bit more country-ish in its lyrics. :P tl;dr version, singer thought lyrics were not important in music.
