This topic is open to anything. Including the rebuilds, EoE, the original, even the manga. I wanna know how you felt about it. The characters, plot, setting and anything else.

Massively over rated. It was a good anime sure but Jesus some people treat it like the bible.

Personally id give it like, maybe a 7/10. This is generous considering I really dislike the shinji type mc,like literally if it wasnt for the story and wanting to know what happens I dont think id watch it.

I love the show, I always have. While Gundam was the series that set me down the otaku path, Evangelion was the one that locked the door behind me. And I just do not understand the hate. I get that people complain about Shinji being whiny, but I don't think those people realize that Evangelion is a deconstruction of the mecha genre. AKA, it's a series that takes an unrealistic framework and sets realistic characters into it, with all the pain and suffering that it entails. Shinji is a realistic 14-year-old kid with severe family issues, I'd be shocked if he WASN'T a mess. Any frankly, yeah, I've lived that life, it messes a guy up. So then you take an already unstable teenager and shove him in a giant robot to kill literal angels and prevent the apocalypse. It's a recipe for mental destruction.
I mean, when I want to see an implausible hero face down their enemy with stoic determination, there's plenty of shows like that. But Shinji isn't a hero, he's just a kid with a horrible life.
