I'm trying to figure out what anime I watched years ago. Can you help me?

I watched this anime show years ago on adult swim. I've been searching for it for years, but I've had no luck. I hope someone can help me find it because I really wanted to watch the whole series. OK here it goes. This is what I remember from the one episode I watched. This guy left his physical body because he had to do something and I guess it required his spirit. His body is in a room and this girl who has a huge crush on him promised to take care of his body while he was gone. The room was trashed and I guess it caught on fire and she somehow got him out of the room. The guys mother came home and she was crying over the body apologizing to him. I think his body was in a wheel chair at that point. The guys spirit was over them the whole time freaking out cause he couldn't do anything nor return to his body till he finished what he had to do. He left with this small girl on a broom who had a dragon egg. I guess there was something important about the egg cause the girl said he could use it now but it will either help him or swallow him whole. Something like that. Alright I know that's not much to go on, but if anyone could help me figure out what anime I watched years ago. I would be so freaking grateful. It's seriously driving me nuts.
