Why do females get welcomed and guys don't?

So, make a change and greet guys too. Of course guys message girls more often, it's how we're wired and to an extent, what society has ingrained in us. It's not sexism, it's taking a chance. Sure, you can wait, but it's always in your favor (male or female ) to initiate conversations. It's not a game, it's statistics. Keep quiet and you won't be noticed, but talk a little and you increase your odds of friends or otherwise. Besides, it's usually just the same group of people who greet anyways and I know there are more than just a handful of users on this site. Dig my friend, dig.
