Are you a professional artist or a fan artist

kohagura
I consider myself a fan artist, but I do in a way, sell some of my art. The 3D art, at least. I never sold 2D art before, and never intend to.

I'm much more a fan artist. I do not sell my art but I want to do it in the future.

Let's say I'm on my way to be a professional artist.

I think I'm a fan artist, but I've sold a decent amount of art. I make flowercrowns, and I paint skulls. A few of my skulls have sold for $250. I wish I could make a living off my drawings though.

@Redd Oh! As an animator with professional experience could you possibly help me out with some advice for a project that I am working on? I would love to hear any advice you could give me.

Eh.. Why do you distinguish between professional and fan artists only? I earn my money with programming and maths but also earn some money on the side with music and art. Professional? Not really. Fan artist? Although I like doing Fan Art I mainly focus on my own art. Hobby artist is what would fit more. I do my own stuff but I don't intend on earning money with most of it.

Neat thread. I'm a complete beginner hobbyist. I've been drawing/painting for about 6 months? now. There are some people here that I think I am better than, but I believe I'm not yet at the level where I would want to attempt to sell or even really show that publicly.

I guess I would be called a fan artist but I can try and sell my art anytime I want. I consider myself really good at painting, drawing and doing graphic art. So, I guess I'll soon be a professional artist?

Fan artist. Although some of my friends want to pay for my art...I don't know how to price it. So either I give them free or just say I don't wanna do it :p (I'm scared to disappoint them) wishing to be Prof someday.
