So, whenever I'm on chat or on forum I can't ever get past the icebreaker stage when taking to people, advice on how to keep the conversation going?

I feel like it's really funny that this didn't have a reply yet. :3
Well..
I really don't know much advice...
But I guess.. Ask questions?
Like.. in real life, for example school, when you eventually make friends, you make friends by being physically in the same area learning little things about each other, right? But on the net you don't have that. So the only way you're gunna learn anything is if they mention it, or if you ask. :3
So yeah.
Ask questions.
Respond to questions.
Ask more questions.
Hopefully by this time the person would have asked you a question, and you can respond freely and talk about yourself. :P
Yeahhh.. I don't know.. Sorry! (>_<)

Being a goof typically works.. or like Mie said ask questions, once you do that you may get an answer that resonates with you allowing you to show how crazy you truly are.

The key is to relax, just be yourself and ask questions to get to know them. Also be sure to check their profile for common interests. Lets take you for instance you have seen Trigun, Tsubasa, Vandread, and Black Cat. Those are things in common with me that we have to talk about. Me personally i also usually check people Bio or keep an eye on their post to see what type of person they are. Cause if they are a dick or troll i most likely wont want to talk to them. Wish you luck man.

You can try checking the forums of stuff you are interested in and then join the conversations. I'm no expert and I'm still pretty new here, but everyone seems really cool. You can pretty much just join the conversations. Think of the forum or chat room like a swimming pool. The hardest part is jumping in because you know it will be cold, but once you are in and swimming you warm right up. So just say what comes to your head during conversations. Just jump on in.

Really the only thing i got out of that swimming analogy is people here are cold at first but when you keep trying they will warm up to you xD

I ask questions, usually keeping it short and simple, so I'll try and lengthen my responses.
Unfortunately I usually wind up asking the most questions and than after 2 or 3 days they'll stop replying in general. So maybe how should I answer things in a way to get people interested in me? Or maybe there's a sort list of good questions to get the ball rolling? I usually start with favorite colors or food, it that to general.

Really just talk about your interests, if they dont talk to you even after you trying your best to talk to them then it just means move on, I usually start with a simple;
G'day [username]
How are you this not so nice summer-spring day [or add what ever]
Get the ball rolling that way then ask them what their name is so its easier to address, and obviously give them your name, then go into personal stuff, I usually do that and i seem to be alright, when responding tell stories, things you may want to do, what your like, have you seen it happen in your past type of thing. It feels more engaging and gets more of a response, sit down, think about responses the longer they are the better you will get back, do some :) or :D maybe some >_> to show your not a boring ass person, If you give off a certain type of vibe no one will want to be with ya, talk with you or even give you the time of day, when you get used to talking to someone change your voice a bit to suit them, When i talk with kids i act like a kid, makes them seem like we are equals type of thing hope it helps xD
