Dealing With Autistic People

darkhorse
But if autistic people don't feel or sense emotion, are they really people?
ichirai_shonin
Simply not feeling emotion doesn't make you a monster. It is simply knowing emotion, and knowing pain, but choosing to not show any when hurting others, or showing that you enjoy it, that makes you a monster. A human can be the purest, but also can be the most demonic monster. It all depends on what you choose, not showing emotion can be showing how much you are hurting, or are hurting by others...

Perhaps eugenics should advance so we can fix people with disorders, that way we can all be blond haired, blue eyed, Nazis! jk But seriously, it would be nice to learn more about these disorder so we can eliminate them.
ichirai_shonin
Indeed, but medical technology will need to advance greatly for that to happen. It may take several years until we can see progress, then more years until we can see a decrease of such disorders/diseases...

I think they are real people. I've considered the ones I've interacted with to be misdiagnosed since they used it as an excuse for every malicious thing they did. That's about the time I cut ties. It sounds insensitive but there are coping tools and methods they can learn and use which when people are diagnosed typically get put into some sort of therapy plan. It's when they don't use them and expect people to adapt to them rather than adapting to the world where the problems emerge. "I can say you're a nasty bitch because I have an illness and you have to forgive me and expect it to happen again" is a compiled version of the conversation I had with the guy when we last spoke.

Yes, many people abuse their diagnosis or misdiagnosis But I've met some people who were outside of reality. Especially these autistic weeaboos. They believed they were anime characters basically and lived in an anime world and would defend their outlandish behavior. And others believe themselves to be superior to others and would kill a man if allowed

Hey, thinking you're an anime character in an anime world isn't so bad. 8)

Can someone say "Chuunibyou"? Really, can you say that? 'Cause it seems to be a japanese word people have trouble pronouncing. (Not for me) Sounds basically what they are doing, though seems like an extreme level, however...

Just sharing my experience, my best friend's brother has aspergers, and he can talk about something he likes to no end. You have to be the one to wind down the conversation. Being in this community and at cons, around my area there are many people with autism that like anime or consider themselves weeaboos, I have been stalked by someone with autism to the point where he had people believing that we were dating. It was the scariest thing and when i confronted him about it telling him he needed to stop, he got pissed off at me and caused a big scene that got the cops involved, then i got in trouble because he used his illness against me. my biggest pet peeve is people that use their illnesses as excuses for being a shitty person.
