I've heard Oculus was pretty damn good but, I watched it so late that I don't actually remember all of it ;3;

Ringu was horrible. America did that movie a favor. The original Ju-ons are better but the Grudge 2 American will always have a place in my heart.
Asian movies to check out:
Marebito
Tale of Two Sisters
Kairo (pulse)absolute must see.
Three Extremes (3 short movies)
And as many Ju-ons you can take.

I love The Orphanage. Cannot recommend it enough. It's not scary scary but maaaan, the story is on point! I heard there's an American version being made, that makes me a little sad because honestly, I cannot imagine anything topping the original. Tried to find a trailer, but the English one was pretty stupid so original Spanish trailer it is :p

^ That's the guy that did Pan's Labyrinth! Anyway, looks top-notch. 87% on Rotten Tomatoes, alright! *Thumbs up* I like these quasi-horror films a lot.. they're usually more story-oriented .
+@Verucassualt, yeah, I've heard Tale of Two sisters from that list.
And I really didn't like Grudge 2. I liked the first much better. But, then again, I hardly recall the story lines of either at all.. I didn't really care for story content in anything back then lol.
Der Ring scared me witless.. I heard the original to be more scary but that just may be bogus hype from purists ya' know
--EDIT--
Read the synopsis for Tale of Two Sisters and it sounded strangely familiar to "The Uninvited" lo and behold, that latter was inspired by the former :O And here I thought the uninvited was a pretty novel idea.. Also, apparently, it's based on an actual Korean folk story. Neat!

Ringu is definitely pure hype. The ones that kinda kick started my obsession was 3 extremes. If you've ever heard of a movie called Dumplings, it's features in it but it's the worst movie of the three. Umm uninvited guest? May be the name of one of them. It's horror and suspense but it's also got a touch of dark comedy in it which made me ADORE it. Then the final movie is the Box. Probably one of the most interesting Asian films I've watched spanning all genres.

I think the reason why I liked Grudge 2 is because of the various story lines. You don't see how they are connected until the end and at the last scene... OH SNAP! It was a fun movie for that alone. Then the darkroom scene always gets to me. In college I did photography and the darkroom was always available 24/7 to any photo student. It was not a fun place to be in alone at 1-4 am.

Saw Annebelle. Loved the first gore scene in the house that was done in 1 shot.
