EXPLOSIONSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But seriously, An artist to me is someone who seek to move people. Someone who captivates and can inspire awe. Someone that can influence the generation that follow through any form of creativity. Someone who wished to bring the imaginary into reality.

An artist is anyone that creates art. Art is anything created with a purpose.

I don't believe there is a definitive term for artist, I think it's really one of those things that's up to personal interpretation more than anything but here's my opinion on the matter. An artist is anyone with a creative vision and wishes to express it by whatever medium they like - not really restricted to drawn art, but it also counts towards writing, music composing, singing, dancing and any other form of creative activity. I never base an artist on the quality of their work - but more on the style that they strive to visualise, if someone has a vision that they want to physically display in the corporeal world then I will automatically consider them an artist. I consider myself an artist in drawing even if I'm not that good at it but I also consider myself an artist in writing and that's where my forte lies when it comes to a creative medium (Been writing since I was a wee little shitebag). It's a form of expressionism to me and a lot of people but to be a good artist, it's not measured by the quality of your work like I said but by your behaviour towards how people feel about your work; you need to learn to take the critique of people around you to heart and learn from that to become even better skill-wise in your chosen medium. Of course you don't need to agree with everything people say, if you feel like somebody demands you to do something that compromises your creative vision (Kinda like what most AAA publishers do to developers in the game industry, an extreme example but one nonetheless) then it's fine to disagree I think. But if it's something like making a few subtle tweaks over time to make your art better like tidying up some mistakes, small ideas and suggestions for later work and other things like that, no matter how soft or harsh it is - artists should always look at those critiques and strive to better their work, and the people who do that are what I call good artists. I think you know what makes a bad artist so I won't go into detail about that. That's my own personal definition of art. Yay opinions :D

You can't.. I mean you can and it'd be uniquely different in every way through your own eyes. That's what I got from college and taking art courses. Especially when it came to critiquing each other's art, nobody ever saw it the same and people would argue ^^" constantly o.o That's what I left with anyway, it's going to be different for everyone. Kinda Like life. As you can see from the different responses, it's different and that's what I think is so cool about it

I think anyone can be an artist, just like anyone is what ever they want to be. But if you can't put your soul into it, it is going to be bull shit. I guess anyone can be an artist but save the "artist" title for those who take pride in it, and aren't afraid to create regardless of how it will be interpreted. Because that is the job of an artist I believe.
