Soooo I'm getting my first tattoo and I'm excited. I already know it's gonna hurt like all hell but anybody got any tips on how to tolerate or distract myself from the pain to the best of my ability?

What are you getting and where? Any place that has a thin layer of muscle over bone (ie, shin, ankle) is going to be the worst for pain, although some tattoo artists work quick enough that minimizes the pain. I found myself an emotionally dark place when I had mine done, old heart breaks, not what I'd call a healthy thought process but it helped numb the sensation to just the feel of the needle piercing through the skin and the artist's hand near it.

It's a size able, very intricate design within a perfect circle

I played chuzzle when I was getting my third tattoo which wasn't as painful as I thought it would be, but still hurt. Just text someone constantly, come on this site be distracted that way.

Listen to HARDCORE heavy metal but the moment you get a little used to it switch over to Coldplay. Try to zen your way through it
