Original Character or Fan Art

Let me apologize for not having any art for this thread. What I do have is an art question: Lets first say you have a tight deadline to meet and within that deadline you can do one of two pictures. A) an original character you created or B) fan art of a character you like. It's basically an analogy for the two stories I want to draw. I don't actually have a deadline but if I start one comic, it'll be the only story I work on because a single story takes ages to draw by yourself. Trying to make two at the same time, I'd be drawing them until the sun blows up. The two stories are also starting to have themes, and ideas overlap so I'd end up retelling the same parts of both stories.

Original story always. Unless you're an utter noob There's no reason to waste your time not making original work.Making original work is hard, and that's a good thing.

Dalton I think you missed the question it wasn't so much about the story as it was the characters involved. I'm certain he has an original-ish story, cause lets face it things are starting to overlap so nothing is truly original these days. That set aside I would go for an original character for the simple fact that you would be giving the story a unique face that expresses your artistic talent. So dislike when people used fan art when presenting an original story. I kind of don't care so long as I am entertained. So to answer your question again I would go with a Original Character.
