I do want to learn more hand-to-hand combat first too. I took Aikido (my favorite so far) and Tae Kwon Do for a short time. I would love to learn Muay Thai (old style, generally referred to as Muay Boran), Wing Chun, Jeet Kun Do, Krav Maga, and Chen style Tai Chi (maybe Chen-style Hun Yuan taijiquan). I prefer older style martial arts, that while take longer to learn, are more effective in actual combat. Modern variations tend to be quicker to learn but are geared more to non-lethal competition and tend to be watered down.

First off, never hold back, only scrubs do that, don't be a scrub. Secondly, put yourself out there, let her know you're into her, but don't be a creeper, and the best way to be charming is by just being yourself. Lastly, don't over think it, just act, shit happens, roll with the punches, and negative thinking/attitudes = unattractive, so do your best to avoid it. tldr; Don't think, just win.
