I only like them because youtubers make such fun videos when they play 'em. XD Can't handle the pressure myself, though.

Siren Blood Curse on Ps3 is amazing. It's like some underground, cult classic survival horror film xD. All the right elements as well: Misty mountain side setting in Japan, zombie nurses, intersting mechanics etc. For example; take on perspective of zombies while hiding, flashlight, scarce ammo, etc. Very fun. But, I like my survival horror games claustrophic, dark, gritty camera, first person. Third is alright if done well, too. I enjoyed the first condemned a lot. RE as of lately sucks.

Jumpscares either bore me without any effect, Or if for some reason I'm on edge, Punch things out of reflex. But as a fan of the horror genre in general, Yes I love horror games.

I hate horror games that are practically a jump scare simulator. It gets old quickly and is more annoying than scary. Silent Hill 2 is a good horror game. It made me feel claustrophobic and vulnerable. It was on my mind even after I turned off the console and a few days onward. And Red Pyramid appearing without any warning was much more scary than that stupid scare chord in Slender.

Horror is my favorite genre in games, anime, manga, movies, VNs, and basically everything so I think real "creepiness" and jumpscares both have their place. I feel that jumpscares are overused in many horror movies and such, which gives them a bad name but they definitely have their place in the horror world. There's nothing like that anxious tension you get from a real creepy atmosphere, but if you build up that tension and throw in a great jumpscare but keep the creepy momentum going afterwards, it can be very nerve-wracking. But again, don't overuse the jumpscare. One jump goes a long way.

I think the thing that can be taken from this is that rather then just saying jumpscares are bad bruh, huh, huh. It's a tool like any other and if over used it gets pretty old and boring fast. It also doesn't help that its a lot easier to achieve a jump scare, then it is to build an atmosphere that creates tension and suspense. Which is probably why you see that stuff everywhere, because its easy to make.
