Important question

Hopefully someone who has been to Otakon before can answer this: It's been 5 years since I've been to Otakon so i don't remember AT ALL! But, if you've been down the the selling floors, do the vendors accept credit cards? I know they take cash for sure but do you know if they take credit/debit cards?

depends on who's vender you go to. But yes, most of them do now. They got that Paypal credit card thingy

Some vendors do, it depends on if they have a card machine or a Square for their smart phone. Most of the larger vendors do, such as Free-Will-America, but just play it safe and take cash. At the artist alley, some independent artists won't, however there are a few business there that will take it. I know it's a little nerve wracking carrying so much cash at one time, but just plan out when you'll be going to the artist alley or the selling floor. Another thing about the card is that if your bank sees how much you're buying in such a short time, they might freeze your card. I don't know how your bank is, but when mine freezes my card, it takes at least 24 hours to work again and that'll be annoying at con. It's very easy to drop/lose your card on the floor and someone will have a spending spree whereas is you drop a $10 bill, it's only $10 gone. And lastly, it's harder to keep track of your spending when you're using a card. With cash, you'll see how much money is going away and you'll be making sure you don't over spend. My rule when I go is to use cash only in the convention center and card only when I go for food or anything else around the city.

@ Rebeccaloveless: thanks for the info. Though, some credit card companies have smart phone apps where you can pay your credit card bills through your phone as well as track your credit score and see what you spend.
