I was over the whole 4th of July thing like 15yrs ago. I spent mine directing traffic, or more accurately, keeping non-hotel people out of the parking lot of the hotel I work at where everyone was trying to park to watch fireworks.

I worked. I hate fireworks, so the time and a half was nice. Plus I got paid to just sit there for 3 of the 8 hours. :)
