Here you go, if you still have faith in humanity, just browse these news stories. Then you won't.

And here is one of the most brutal girls killing a girl murder I've ever heard about:

I actually don't but killing because of slenderman is just for fuck's sake. really, slenderman? Why don't they just sell their brain on ebay if they're not using it.
I'd be happier if this were a psychological factor.... :/

It's a fucked up escapist fantasy, they were hoping Slenderman would take them in if they proved their worth.
If anything, I've learned that humans are boundless in their stupidity and depravity.
I would assume these girls didn't have the happiest childhood's and were probably abused on some level.

Start blaming the parents then. Isn't this supposed to be considered a juvenile case rather than a criminal adult case? because they're minors D;

Well slenderman is nothing but a urban legend or moreover created on the somethingawful forums. They went pretty thought out on him as well make alot of fake pictures and then even woodcut ones as well. To try to give him meaning in history as well to drive the fear up. As for the pictures almost all of them dont have shadows.
Mabel Hornets has already said their series was not real but yeah hes a cool and creepy internet creepypasta myth. However not real.
As for this stabbing so to speak. Unfortunately it will be blamed on the subject in which they used rather then the person themselves.
I have seen similar incidents such as this some dealing with people trying to do stuff they see.
Either way the most likely scenario is the parents will blame and point their fingers at the media or outlet whatever they can besides their own children to believe that hey my kids did not do this on their own. When in reality they chose to fully.
People who usually do this are more likely to be ones who have not had the best childhood less friends along with quite a few other factors. Then they get into this whole euphoric sense of self worth sometimes and can revolve around escapist and sense of worth attempts at trying to create a world where they matter more.
Sure they made the choice to do it. No the media is not to blame for it in my eye, but then who is? The parents perhaps, but I was thinking something else.
In regards to my faith in humanity its there but I will say this as a species we have a very unique way of putting ourselves up on the throne then ignoring all the other things that would make us just like any other animal yet we have no problem seeing others problems and actions. Wait that sounds like a certain term thats been going around on the thread?

I watched most of the Marble Hornets except the most recent, it was entertaining. There was 2 or 3 other similar productions and a bunch of offshoot and copycats. My ex was really into CreepyPasta for awhile. It scared her.

They've made movies around the Slenderman mythos and I've played some of the games. For more hilarity check out "Herobrine" of Minecraft lore. Kind of like the Slenderman of Minecraft. My exs little brother and sister are obsessed with him. (11 and 14)

I love creepypasta when they merge together. "PastaMonsters" is a webcomic on Deviant art with around 133 pages right now and it's funny. :3

Now for the seriousness, I know that there are people that do horrible things because they were brought up horribly, but I also know that there are people are there that do these things because they love the way it feels or it turns them on. I wouldn't doubt that these girls probably saw slenderman as a religion and did what they did because they felt good doing it, just like how every other religion makes you feel good for something that you do in there.

I am well versed on internet creepypastas myself herobrine is more of a interesting anti hero now to the minecraft series. Although he is still not real notch likes to play jokes on us from time to time.
In regards to creepypasta though I would suggest abandoned by disney one that has audio. Out of many creepypasta I read and listened too this one is pretty good in my opinion has great buildup and not to much unrealistic things happening.
Here are three creepypastas though that are somewhat real.
1. Robert the Doll is actually real in the experience itself if all events that happened are real however should be met with a skeptical eye.
2. Angelman Syndrome this one is pretty good and you should check it out not all of it I would say is completely accurate but its good though.
3. Kagome Kagome is based on a true story possibly although the creepypasta takes a few liberties here and there. But its a good read.
Now back to the threads main topic though.
@joyishi Thats true , on that matter there are some people regardless of what environment they are raised in who just like the aspect of doing things such as this. However they usually are rare in my opinion compared to the people who had some event cause them to be that way.
