Combining Websites

ryan1555
I think this would be the best site ever if you guys kept the site free , but combined with these sites http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/ http://www.animedownloadsonline.com/ http://www.anime-planet.com/ and somehow be able to connect with various of social media sites . If that were to Happen this this would be more than likely the number one Anime site ever and get huge amount of traffic

ANN, Anime Planet, and MaiOtaku are all run by different organizations with different goals. They're not something you can really just combine. Anime Downloads Online is also legally dubious, combining with them is liable not to make MaiOtaku better but instead get MaiOtaku shut down completely.

Rather than outright combining, what about using APIs? For example, MyAnimeList.net has an API for some of its functionality, and from browsing the support forums there's a way to pull the users list data in xml format (seen here: http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=694489). I had a MAL account before signing up here, so I'm in the process of porting over more than 700 different anime, made even more difficult by the issue of duplicates here (which also negatively impacts the matching feature). As for Anime Planet, this thread: http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=135910&show=0 indicates that you can import your anime planet list to MAL, then from MAL grab the XML to use here. Perhaps the developer here could contact the developer of MAL and work out a partnership of some kind. It could give both sites more traffic (if the two cross link to each other) while providing valuable data for this site. Likewise with Anime Planet. Either way, it would first require merging the duplicates here before this could even be feasible. At least it wouldn't require complicated legal terms to determine who has what authority or what the compensation situation would look like from merging sites. Just food for thought.

add a new section to the top bars "online now" show everyone currently online and add the options to search through people.
