Rock, alternative, progressive rock and metal, post-punk, and mostly anything that has to do with an actual band and not just a person singing karaoke over someone else's music without credit to the proper artists performing the actual song. I favor Vocaloids mainly because the songwriter does get credit for their songs while featuring said Vocaloid performing it. Same goes with most rap and r&b of that time since majority of the time it was spoken through the eyes of the performer with props to the dj that provided the beats. Finally another appreciative art I can agree with is parody. Weird Al Yankovic was basically the proof for any artist acknowledging that they finally made it big in the industry. Nowadays it has been just a blatant jab at the performer ("Perform This Way" for example) but at least for the most part they'll say it's funny and like it. I'm currently getting deeper in Nerdcore rap and Chiptune rock, last two shows I've seen were MC Frontalot and Random (AKA Mega Ran) with DN3, which I'm glad they came around the SC area. If I can I may be able to go see K-Murdock in April. Hope to see Anamanaguchi someday (if you watched Scott Pilgrim or played the game they did the Chiptune music for it, as well as the first Bit.Trip.Runner game) On a sidenote, I can clearly say for now that music as an art is pretty much on its deathbed, since for the Super Bowl Halftime show is as its main attraction Bruno Marz, while as "special guests" joining him will be Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Music is an image tool now and no longer an outlet of artistic expression, but I guess it's the times along with how the new majority thinks now. Not even that old but it's what I grew up with. But if it's tl;dr then answer is Rock, alternative, progressive rock and metal, post-punk, nerdcore, and chiptune. And Weird Al.
