been a bit since I've had someone to just talk to(female friend)

So it's been a while since I have had a cool female friend. I mean, I've started having a few, but something would happen that got in the way. I had one friend here a bit ago, we'd chat, text, and have a good time, but... then it got weird when I knew she started to REALLY like me (she was an easy person to read) we had the air cleared up. However it just wasn't the same. I've had close female friends in the past, but it seems as though I haven't found new ones(that lasted) since I moved. Why can it be so hard? I mean seriously? I guess I'm not just going on about I want someone to chat with, and I know it can happen, but how come, most times, in a friendship between a guy and girl, does one often end up liking the other? Yes, I've liked liked female friends before, some I asked out, but some I decided it best to be friends. Sometimes having a good friend from the other gender is a great thing. Hell, they'll tell you things that your own gender friends wouldn't or couldn't. Sorry, lost my train of thought a bit. Thoughts, opinions?
