Ladies and Gents (especially ladies)

I require your input. Here's the backstory: I'm in a cellular accessory shop for new headphones talking to a cute girl about headphones for a while. I also need a new screen protector and since they don't have the right one she offers to custom fit one for me. It takes a while and we talk for a bit( she stumbles a lil bit on a few words). After she finishes we go up to the register and she apologizes for being so tounge tied today (with a beautiful laugh I mihgt add)and asks me how I like the new screen. Ohhh boy, should not have said that. (Hagrid agrees) Full ham in... 3 2 1 "You did a great job, it looks beautiful. Almost as beautiful as it's installer." Yup there it is. After that awkward line she turns down to the cash tray saying thank you and afterward asks if there's anything else I want. I ask for her number and she says "Oh I'm sorry I can't give that out store policy. But you can come back and see me some time." Now here is my question. Was that a gentle blowoff saying not interested but come back sometime to visit the store, or come back when I would be off work so we can actually talk?

Hard to say. You're gonna have to actually ask her out or something to really know the answer. It could be that she's a natural flirt in that some people flirt good-naturedly and thus leading to the gentle letdown. Or she doesn't feel comfortable giving you her number, but would be open to talking with you more. Or something else I haven't thought of yet...

I think asking for her number might have made her uncomfortable, especially in her work place when she was just doing her job to help you. There's really no way to tell if she was trying to gently say "I'm not interested" or not, so maybe she does want to see you again in a more casual setting! The only way is to go talk to her, just maybe don't ask for her number this time. :>
