In case you are referring to my critiques of the site, I shall explain. See I don't own the site, so I can't make changes, but if the site doesn't know they aren't doing bad why would the fix it right? If the site works great-in their eyes- then there is no reason to improve. Now, get this, this is the really crazy part. This forum is titled "Suggestions", and I gave suggestions. Regardless, I'm quite impressed that MaiOtaku has addressed a number of my concerns.

@DDP: Couldnt've said it better myself. (I actually don't believe I came back now that I'm here...meh, oh, well) My gripe with this site is exactly what I thought it would be when I first got here: An otaku dating/social networking site is, almost by definition, an oxymoron. It's like saying, "Hey, we're having an icebreaker dance for all of you sitting behind the screen right now! Come one, come all!" (I wouldn't expect a great turnout for that event; sure, a con is a place where we can go to express our love for whatever hobby/passion we have...but a dance is designed to be social FIRST...we're otaku...). See what I mean? HOWEVER, I DO think we could resolve an issue like this by, as Dalton_Dark Prince said, involving the community more with a 'user creativity' section or something like that. It takes the focus off the social part and redirects it on the talents of the users (it's a perception thing). Also, user activism and honesty is a factor. If you're like me and only log on once every year, it's difficult on everyone else. That and don't lie if you're single. Just be honest and say you're not interested vs the typical "I already have a bf/gf" response...it gets annoying. OR, you could just let your friends here know you've found someone (so they can keep in touch) and STOP LOGGING IN. Dot dot dot... Just my attempt at trying to solve the cube...nothing set in stone.

That and advertise the site to your SINGLE friends that like the culture. I find that, even when I'm at cons, I get the same 'nobody's single that shares my interests' vibe (it could be that I'm picky...who knows). Nothing's worse than hanging out with try-hard couples at a con when you're single and looking. This site is supposed to aleviate (sp?) that problem, but for lack of reccomendation to the right people (or at least from what I can tell), the single people don't get here. It's more like, "Hey you, the couple in the corner making out, have you heard of..." or "Look, dude, you need this..." :D The whole, "I like, you like, lets..." thing SHOULD work...if the proper demographics are are represented...meaning ALL THE SINGLE ONES (male/female/gay/straight/everything in between). You wouldn't go back to a car dealership if they said, "Oh, no, no, no...not that one. That's actually not for sale. Neither is this one. Or this one. Or this one...or that one. This bicycle is GREAT, though!" Why go to a CAR dealership? [just substitute "Car Dealership" with "Dating Website" and "Not For Sale" with "Not Single"...and for the astute, "bicycle" with "incompatible match"]

@ doubt I am trying really hard to make maiotaku more awesome. Some of my awesomeness has already spread but its not enough. Neither am I Tony stark. Nor am I chuck norris. I am pretty awesome and all but even I must admit that there are beings that exist on a higher level of awesomeness. Did I say chuck norris ? Chuck norris isnt that awesome actually. Bruce lee was a far superior martial artist and also.. Oh one minute please. Someones at the door.

I don't get why people are complaining about the developers. it's not like he's getting paid by you guys :)) I doubt he even gets paid at all. does this site even have income?
zero_onimatsu
Yeah it dose the very little people who actually pay for the premium though this girl's got a point

I think I want to field this one. There's a difference between a complaint and a suggestion...the latter being infused with an attempt at a resolution. You can't have a suggestion without a complaint; otherwise you wouldn't need a suggestion. With that being said, I believe (though I could be wrong), that the developer created a root thread specifically for suggestions. Mai Otaku Forums > Site News and SUGGESTIONS > etc... As for the 'free' thing, relationships are free, right? Would you sit there and not 'suggest' solutions to problems that you had in your relationship? Forever? True, you COULD just leave, but that doesn't really solve anything, does it? Your next relationship is going to have a flaw (because no one is perfect), and you'll just sit and not say anything again and again and again. Because it's free. Complaints are just as useless, because there's no attempt at a real solution. It's just complaining. But that's just me complaining about complaining and not being goal oriented... I'd rather make suggestions so that we can both grow together. Same with this site. I don't want it to fail, so I make suggestions...attempts at improving the content that I, as an individual AND as part of the group, disapprove of. For example: This site is just hard to look at. -complaint This site is just hard to look at; maybe try changing the background color to something less...lightbulb-y... -suggestion It's not going to make people smile; no one likes being told that something's wrong. But I'm an adult, and I know when the benefits of ruffling a few feathers is going to outweigh the consequences. Otherwise, no one would EVER eat their vegetables, know what I mean? Hope that helps.
