The Inuyokai and the Neko girl.

takeruinudo
Once upon a time, in the Gifu prefecture, a special girl lived in a tiny village. This girl was born with beauty surpassing and girl in the village. Her hair was brown like that of the forest wood, soft and flowing to her waist. Her eyes were like perfect red tiger eye stones placed in. Her voice rang clear and sweet in even the coldest air. When she was born, the mother was speechless of her beauty and thought long to choose a name to suite her. While thinking and raising the child, she had noticed that she was very much like a cat, and so finaly a name came to the girl's mother. The mother gathered her small child into her arms and whispered "My sweet child, I have found the perfect name for you. I shall name you Koneko Rin, for you are like that of a cat child, and your voice rings clear and beautiful like that of a bell." Rin grew up happily with her mother, and many of the villagers were in awe of her and her beauty, but the village children did not feel the same. As Rin grew, she would try to play with the other children, though to be respectful and not ager their parents, the children would be kind to her. Rin never made friends, and soon she became lonely. As Rin became 17 years of age, many of the boys would woo her, but to their disappointment she would instantly reject them. Rin had no interest in the village boys and men, and because of her many rejections, the boys and men began to to look ill towards her, feeling humiliated, and the girls and women would resent her for her beauty. One winter, a terrible sickness took over Rin's mother, and soon passed as the snow melted. No one mourned for her loss, for the villagers were too consumed with jealousy and hatred towards Rin and her beauty. Taking this advantage, the village girls assaulted Rin, and driving her out of the village. Heartbroken and homeless, Rin wandered through the vast woods, only to ever have the brief company of the animals of the woods. One night, as she walked about the woods, her clothes torn and ragged, she heard a voice. The voice was that of a man singing, though she could not see him, she was sure she could hear him. As she traveled further, the voice became clearer, and she could soon pick out the words the man was singing. "....the moon, so high, it shines down with illuminating beauty......*words fade out*.....as I wander these lands, I wonder what i'm searching for...." Just before the man could sing the next verse, Rin walked into a small clearing as she followed his voice. Atop a small boulder, sat the man, but the man was different. The man wore strange clothes, and his hair was white, atop his head were ears like that of a dog, and about his waist swished a tail. The man heard the intruder and jumped, nearly flying to the tops of the trees he hid, not daring to see who it was. Rin stood there in shock, the man was not human, but she felt strangely calm about it. Quite enough not to scare the man she said "please don't be frightened, I wont hurt you, I was just listening to you sing. would you please come down?". The man, or creature, peered down from the tops and looked at the girl suspiciously. "And when does a human ever want anything to do with the likes of me? You humans are always eager to have my head, so why should I trust you?" the creature said, his tail swishing agitatedly. Rin thought for a moment, then decided to tell her story from the beginning. The creature listened, and soon felt sorry for the poor girl. After a pause, the creature came down and stood a distance from the girl. "alright, ive come down, what is it that you want from me? I'll tell you now that I may do nothing for you, I have no reason to." said the creature, eying Rin. "I only wished to listen to you sing, but I do have one question. you arn't human, but what exactly are you?" Rin asked, looking intently at the creatures ears. The creature twitched its ears, "I'm an Inuyokai of course, am I the first you've seen? Not surprising really, I haven't seen others like me for 50 years now, perhaps our numbers are much fewer than I thought when I was young..." said the inuyokai, a sad look came over his face. The girl felt bad, for she too could relate to his loneliness and lack of family, and so a thought came to her. "I have an offer for you" Rin said, the inuyokai swished his tail and gave a curious look towards her. "since you do not have any companions, and neither do I, why not we be friends and travel together?" Rin said, a strange offer, but she didn't really have anything else, and she would love to have at least one friend, even if that friend wasn't human. The creature thought, then gave a small nod. "alright, i'll take your offer, but if you try to do anything strange, I will leave you and never show myself." he said with a smirk. Rin happy with his reply she asked "wonderful, oh but what can I call you?" Rin asked. The creature looked at her for a while and a smile crept about his face, "you can call me Takeru, Inudo Takeru is my name". And on that night, a strange and powerful bond was made. whew!! that took a while longer to write than I thought.
