Pathetic

kichigai913
I seriously didn't think this many people would have such low self esteem. I always thought if you were bold enough to go out and dress like an anime character that you had guts, goals and personality. The more I read stuff on this site, the more I'm proven wrong. I've seen more guys with the "would you date me" thread than girls, which surprised me. Yes, I know, a lil sexist, but c'mon... Normally that's what you'd expect. It's like the girls have all the guys balls in a vice and the guys are just handing them over. Women of this site, I promise you, not all guys are this pathetic. I'll be damned to ask someone else if they think I'm 'cute' or whatever. I honestly don't give a damn. I'm not looking for love. I'm looking for friends. a friendly relationship. If something comes out of it, whoopdi do. Some of you guys make me embarrassed to even admit i like anime

Lmao, well finally someone says it xD I agree, it's a tad embarrassing. It's like one person cries, and everyone else joins in. I don't understand why people think crying like that, OUT LOUD IN A FORUM, is attractive; not just that, this is a dating website for crying out loud. Trust me, guys and gIrls, if you have a problem, I'm all ears, but don't go crying to the world. @kichigai hopefully your intent here is to stop the emo/depressing/whining 'boys' out there to stop with those threads, etc. And with that..MESSAGE ME before posting on the forums, we're all friends here. But guys, really, man up a bit, show some restraint and toughen up. And again, reiterating this, I am not 'hating', but it's a dating website, let's act like adults at least ;p
kichigai913
Yes. that is my intent. I'm all for fun and games, but when I see pity parties going on, I cringe. And when I see a guy saying that he wishes he was dead because he thinks he's ugly, I seriously want to give him one of my many weapons and leave him alone for 20 minutes with a bottle of rum.

lol, what did you seriously expect bro? Nerds gravitate toward anime. Nerds are, on the aggregate, far from attractive in the global scope (and also, lettuce be real tea, this is a DATING SITE. LOL. Come on). It doesn't have to be that way, but that's obviously the natural outcome. Can it be changed though? Of course. But when you have a medium teeming with "moe" and "bishounen" archetypes, of course you can't expect people here on the average to be "naturals" with privileged access to everything in life, lol. By everything, I mean a huge network of socially sound friends and a large selection of potential mates. I am not saying you're wrong though. I'm saying that what you're doing is basically going to a comedy club and wondering why everyone is laughing. A lot of people go to anime for relief because they're lonely. You should know that as an anime fan.

@borsty "I don't understand why people think crying like that, OUT LOUD IN A FORUM, is attractive" I think they're just looking for pity sex. The entitlement is strong.
kichigai913
@titan This is more like, I'm going to a comedy club and everyone is sober, crying. I didn't realize dating sites meant cry to the opposite sex about not being cute. and lets be honest. To call this a dating site is a joke. This is more like an anime/manga/cosplay fan forum. I mean, it's not no OkCupid, but this is the most lax and broken 'dating' site I've ever seen.

@Ffftitans, Exactly! I could not think of the way to phrase it, thank you! Pity sex, or are just looking for any type of undeserved reassurance. I've seen it too much from friends and family members. But again, I seriously could not think of the word pity, ain't that pitiful xD Too late for borsty right now, my mind is so tired: I'm trying to pull an all nighter (first time in over a year haha) @kichigai, it's still a work in progress, I guess xD

@kichigai913 Well considering you're from OKC also, you realize its also got quite a handful of desperate men (go make a fake account with a morbidly obese woman and see how far you go. Your visitor count and messages will sky rocket, srs.). I mean that's why "online dating" has a stigma; people perceive it as a place where desperate people who don't have the guts to approach girls go to (and rightfully so). Combine that rightful stigma with anime fans (or other nerd subculture) and you get the lowest denominators of the "dating" scene. tl;dr it's pointless to get upset at this and you should have realized it IMO. You can help or if that's not worth your time (which it seems), go try some other dating sites where people are more mentally sound, and save yourself the headache and time. Try the pay sites (Match, eHarmony, etc.); I hear you get better mileage there because since people are paying for it, they actually give a shit. "To call this a dating site is a joke. This is more like an anime/manga/cosplay fan forum. I mean, it's not no OkCupid, but this is the most lax and broken 'dating' site I've ever seen. " lol, can't disagree there. The ideas are there, but work is still being done. But if we're gonna compare it to OKC in terms of number of actual offline meetups happening, yeah, probably worse. Tons of guys here probably spam and throw (or slip in; the stuff I read here man, LOL) compliments at every girl as soon as she registers, and all the girls only go here for an egoboost, with no intention of actually meeting anyone offline. That's what OKC is 80% of the time, but here it seems it's 100% of the time, lol. Again, a total waste of your time if that's your main intention, and I can't blame you for it.

I definitely cannot disagree with ffftitan, all in all everything he says is true. You may get lucky here, you may not. Personally for me, I keep my eyes and ears open, that's why I'm here, because sometimes miracles happen. How broad the dating spectrum is, you gotta search high and low, and this place is the low xD Not a bad site in general, but dating-wise it is pretty bad.
kichigai913
I'm not from OKC. i simply used it as a reference. match.com, pof, eharmony, etc... You took that comment and ran with it. It's not pointless to get mad at it. It's how I feel and I felt as if enough is enough. There are people out there on this site that see it the way I do and there are others, like you, that point out the obvious as if it's not there to see. I get it. And again, if this is what it means to be otaku, if having tons of pity parties with other people, begging for attention from strangers then retreating to your anime/manga/video game is what it means to be Otaku, I'm not one. When I think of otaku, I think of people who honestly don't care about what others think because they DRESS AS ANIME CHARACTERS. If you have the balls to go out in public and dress like Goku, Luffy, Naruto, Ichigo or any other character, I don't get how you can really have low self esteem. I honestly don't get it. I'm not complaining about how horrible or anything this site is, I'm simply saying it's not the typical dating site. where you get. I like this site. I really do, I just don't consider this a dating otaku website. Like i said, I consider this a forum more than anything. The only reason why I know this site exist is because I went to Otakon and they were handing out fliers. I thought it would be interesting to see what it was like and now that I do, yeah, its fun, it's entertaining, but a dating site? hardly
