@Ectara: I'll definitely must beat Persona 3 and will. (Reason and Answer)
Playing Persona 3, I've noticed how different it's theme is to Persona 4. In Persona 3, it seems like the theme is "memento mori" (remember death). I mean, the phrase is in the opening cutscene. The fact that we have to take responsibility for our own actions is literally symbolized when you sign the contract at the start, because, remember, at some point, we all die; mememnto mori. Also, it seems like almost every character has lost somebody at some point and are learning to cope with it.
So much Death.
Going off on a quick tangent, at the time of playing Persona 4, I had been researching Jungian Psychology (I had kind of unhappy younger years). I thought it was really awesome coincident how much of Jungian Psychology and its theories are incorporated into the game. It's a really great metaphor to how some of the theories work. If you know some of it, awesome. If not, I'll let you look into it so to take up more time then necessary.
That's an awesome way to play. I do the same for some games (depending on which, it's counter-productive for me personally) It kinda reminds me of the Nuzlocke Challenge.

There's no harm in that. I feel that Persona 4 was much more about overcoming one's own inner conflicts, and finding their way in life, after defeating what is holding them back. This even extends to the unplayable characters; I was especially moved by Ryotaro's and Nanako's social links, and involvement with the main story.
Personally, I love Shoji Meguro's work (favorite composer), and I liked the soundtrack for Persona 3 better than 4. They both fit their themes appropriately, I suppose; I assume I'm biased toward 3 as it is, but I liked the much more technical and high-tensioned nature of a lot of the soundtrack, combined with the peaceful tracks of normal school and afterschool life, in addition to the thoughtful and melancholy tracks that remind us what we are all fighting for.

It is very much concerned with death. Toward the end, the story truly flowers, and has stuck with me for a long time. I found that I could relate to the story more. A lot of people write off Persona 3 for "trying to be too edgy" or being obsessed with death, but I disagree: Persona 3 is about sacrifice, atonement, and forgiveness. The death is all a side-effect.
I LOVED the symbolism in every Persona. I was so engrossed with how well written all of the characters were. It is definitely not a coincidence; they intentionally worked it into each character, and each character seemed to grow on their own from the idea that created them. Their tarot arcana and archetype describe them precisely, and it is really impressive to get to know them as they are, just people, then read the ideology that inspired each one, to realize how much of a masterpiece the story really is.
That's actually an awesome idea. My playstyle in Pokemon Red was to get a Charmander, and never evolve it (I like Charmander), and use only one Pokemon all the way until about Cinnabar Island where I need to get a Pokemon that can learn surf. I tend to like having characters fight solo, Persona included. That's something that seems to be unique to me; I've levelground for countless hours in Persona 3, just playing as the main character alone, fatigued and staring down death with every battle.

OH GOD, YES! I forgot about Persona Q. This is great news, and will actually give me more reason to use my 3DS; it has sat dusty and sad in the corner until I bought SMTIV. I eagerly await the day that these arrive on US shores.

I got OoT:3D when it came out, but to be honest, I've beaten it countless times as a child. Games that I haven't beaten took precedence. I like SMTIV. It's a bit different from the previous games, which is a little off-putting, but then again, Persona was different from SMT. I am irked that SMTIV had a different composer! The whole game feels different because it is very obviously not the same composer. However, while I was expecting something else entirely when playing SMTIV for the first time, I think the execution of the new storyline is going well. I haven't beaten it yet; I've been playing it every now and again as life allows. I greatly enjoyed references to older games; I love when newer games refer back to SMT I and II, because I get every reference, and feel like I'm in some secret club. :D I also loved every plot twist, and I legitimately had to stop, take a picture, and send it to one of my friends when I met the Black Samurai for the first time, because it was such an insane plot twist that tied in to the previous games.

I started on Persona 2 eternal punishment since I had a huge love for RPG as a little kid but I didn't beat that until eight years later when I was 11 then I negotiated with gamestop to buy persona 3, same thing with FES later on. I have both devil survivors, I don't know where my Devil summoner went. I got Persona 4 after christmas. I then imported Persona 2 tsumi (innocent sin) and then P4A for PS3. I love all the Shin megami Tensei games.

I'm just about to start Devil Summoner, now that I've finished SMTIV. I've been waiting to get around to it. How did you like it, compared to the others?
