Other's Opinions, A Relationship that could have Been.

tornadomushroom
So folks, I want to hear your opinions. Say you have someone you're interested in. Do you let your friend's judgements determine if you should like them or not? This is on top of them not knowing one thing about the person you have the interest for? Even if they are your closest friends? Let's be honest, there are lucky people who end up 1 for 1 with their relationships. Others? It's a hit or miss. But we should all know that by now right? When you accept that you're ready to be in a relationship, you're also unwillingly accepting to get your heart broken if that time ever comes, or you're ready to break someone's heart. So, again. Do you let this affect the way you see someone? And have you ever been on the side where you're the one being judged and you're the one being left in the dark? EDIT: And do you give the person of interest a chance to get to know your friends? There is a saying that I don't believe in "Never judge a book by it's cover" Because we live in a world full of judgement. Instead I like to believe in, "You can judge a book by the cover but it would be most fair to give it a chance to change your mind by simply reading it"

First of I want to start by saying, i think your saying is much more realistic and accurate in the sense that we naturally judge anyways, but we can choose to wait and get to know someone before we base it. In all honesty I dont think your friends should determine who you like or not because at the end of the day they aren't you, and if they are your friends they will respect that judgement call whether they personally agree or not. I mean can they truly make a call if they don't even know a single thing about the individual? I think not! I've been on the side where I am being judged, its not exactly a nice place to be, and viewing someone differently because you might break up later wont really yield positive results, so why bother? Look on the brighter side for now as if worrying ever gets you anywhere anyways, just added stress if you ask me. I say let your friends have a chance at getting to know this person before they truly pass judgement you never know in the end they may get along more than you thought! But regardless its still you choice at the end of the day my friend.

I think I would like to know what they're basing their opinion on. Maybe they do know something about this person that you don't know and that is a valid consideration. Or maybe the reason they don't approve of this person is based on something I didn't know about my friend/s. But I'm that kind of person where I'll listen to everything, evaluate, and adjust accordingly based on the information I receive.

Nice hearing your thoughts jvega. And xueli, absolutely nothing. Judgement was served upon appearance and the friends not getting attention like they used to. On a side note, this was made to prove a point to someone. Which is no longer active on the site. I was actually the person being judged... her friend didn't even know me and was able to persuade her to stop talking to me. None the less, would still love to hear opinions on this matter.

Wow, sorry to hear. I've been on both ends and the other two already said what I wanted to say but, in the immortal words of Spiderman; everybody gets one. Even if things blow up horribly in the end... >.> But you might have fun memories in between. Especially if the friend isn't getting the same attention they use to (boy I've been on both those ends too) if they had just given it time things would of eventually worked out to where the focus is balanced. Welp best of luck to you. Don't know if this was honestly advice or rambling... I'm on 4 hrs sleep and a monster :)

Haha, i'm in good shape B). To be honest, just disappointed not in the person but the friend who would turn their own friend away from someone she enjoyed talking to :P.

Yeah shit happens, but maybe its fate! Or the she'll forget the friend and come running back into your arms like in a shojou and you guys will elope and go to Vegas! Or maybe you'll find the one your destined to be with and she wasn't the one. Worst case scenario; it ends like 5 cm/s ㅠ.ㅠ Sorry I'm a bit of a romantic xD

Hahaha it ending like 5cm/s would turn me into the most depressed person in the WORLD lol. One of my favorites by the way haha. Naahhh, I respect her decision and shes a GREAT PERSON. Her friend though has ZERO love from me.
jvega
Honestly i would be disappointed in both the girl and the friend. I think she should have known better or atleast tried to convince her friend, but that's just my two cents i feel like she wasn't worth it or the one for you.
exherokid
Of course you always respect her decision but not the friend, that's just the way it is imo lol(she had a lot of encouraging stuff to say in this section too others would surely miss her too. And it ending like 5cm/s (omg great movie, art story, development but more of that later) isn't actually the worst case scenario now that I think about it, Clannads faux ending is(omg bawled waterfalls). 5 cm/s would make me depress, but Clannad would put me in the mental hospital.
