kichigai913 I agree, games these days try way to hard to impress you with graphics when I would gladly still pay $50.00 for a really good 8-Bit game that actually had character development and a strong story. Today's Final Fantasy games are nothing compared to the old one. If you think otherwise play through all of the 10-14 part of the series, then play through the first 10 (roughly) hours of FF VII and watch Aries die. Or experience a true classic TBS with Final Fantasy Tactics (Though I admit some of the experience was lost in translation if you only played the original PSX version). I can literally (as in real life) play FF13-FF132 without even looking at the screen, that and the endless "Hallways" were just unbearable. I officially swore I would never play another Final Fantasy game as long as 13 or any of it's sequels were being made and/or released. That was about 6.5 - 8 hours into FF13 the 2nd day it had been released, the lesbian (nothing against lesbians lol) "Scissoring" Shiva motor-cycle was my cut-off limit.... I think I played about 1-2 hours past that point. I was also disturbed at the possibility of all the Chocobo shit in Sazh's hair well before Spoony pointed it out. drmario - Yes and no IMO. People like Toriyama were little more than "art design" in most of the games *large boots and crazy hair lol, the Toriyama trademark*. I agree with what your saying overall though, just blah on the Toriyama reference except in Dragon Quest exceptions lol. havoc81 - This I do agree with as well but only to an extent, at least from a personal stand point. Even today I would still gladly pay 50-60 bucks for one of the old 8 bit classics simply because of the story and character developement. There are newer examples of stories that can still make you use your imagination, PS2 Valkyria Chronicles (was a good example in my opinion, enough visual/audio to let you know what characters looked/sounded like but not a lot of animations, which left a lot to the imagination still). Also you should look up a few of the newer games coming out, if you don't know about them I would recommend keeping an eye on both "Fortnite" and "The Forest". Fortnite = Creative fort building sim where zombie type creature attack at nigth and you gather materials and build during the day. The Forest - Survival Horror. Trapped on an island and you must really eat/sleep/drink and build shelter/fires to keep yourself alive while dealing with a population of nocturnal "Cannibals". I'm looking forward to both of these. Old RPGs I'd Recommend - No POST PS1 Games 1. Star Ocean: The Second Story (And the 1st one on SNES available through Fan Translation) 2. Final Fantasy 6-7 (6 was originally 3 in the U.S.A.) 3. Final Fantasy Tactics - Play "War of the Lions" *PSP* for the best translation. 4. Breath of Fire 2 - The first game was great, but 2 is the first one that really stood out IMO. 5. Breath of Fire 3 - Good story. Use "Gene Splicing" for 12 different base dragon forms. Each form can have multiple elemental bases making for a LOT of different dragons/abilities. 6. Grandia - #*%&ing classic.... period. 7. Grandia 2 - Almost as good as the first, if not a little better. 8. Wild Arms - "Spaghetti Western" RPG 9. Revelations: Persona *Persona series also known as "Shen Magami Tensei" if looking up the series* 10. Persona 2: Innocent Sin 11. Persona 2: Eternal Punishment - All 3: Dark, well written stories. All 3: Obtain demonic "Persona" to transform into during battle. P2:EP - Can import your save from "Innocent Sin" to change game world. 12. Tales of "Insert any game of this series here" 13. Ogre Battle - Kind of a RTS TBS hybrid. Story changes based off all of your choices. 14. Suikoden - Another one of the "Insert any game in this series". Like 150 character to recruit plus a battle system that lets certain character "Combo attack". Keep in mind I'm talking about PS1 and before before hating on me for that certain PS2 version. *BLAH* 15. Legend of Legaia - Great RPG, has an "action battle system" where you input commands for separate body parts *left/right kicks/punches* to attack with. Certain combinations of puches/kicks will result in super attacks known as "Arts". 16. Bahamut Lagoon - SNES *Only available via fan translation patches and emulators* Amazing game... play it. 17. XenoGears - No words can describe this game IMO, just go play it ASAP 18. Chrono Trigger (OMG Had to list this as a last second *edit* to avoid getting flamed :) lol) Won't take it any further than 17 (18 now) lol. And these are in no certain order, I simply listed them as I thought of them and basked in the nostalgia , trying to say any of them is better than another is pointless, I enjoyed every single one of them equally yet separately. Sorry for blabbing on lol. Oh, and Brave Fencer Musashi for any "Zelda" type fans (yeah yeah 19)
