waterlily_ann @waterlily_ann Let's see. Lolita fashion is a Japanese fashion style that involves looking adorable like a doll which derived influence from Versailles style. It does involve frills but there are various fashion substyles. For instance, there is the gothic lolita and sweet lolita. Gothic has more than just black pieces (not to be mistaken for kuro lolita) and can incorporate items like skulls, corset with fancy lacing, etc. Sweet lolita deals with pastel colors or fairly light colors. This would mean pink, lavender, and other cute prints. There are a lot of things to think about when it comes to lolita because it is not the cheapest hobby to get into. Also, it can be difficult to put an outfit together (coordinate) but not impossible. Petticoat are also necessary to give a full bell shape or a-line that makes the dress poofy. Um, also these are all just in my words so no one goes full lolita-nazi on me! For me, I adore the fashion purely and it is a way of me expressing myself. However, I have noticed that there are some people that might view lolita (even without realizing it) as a competition with who has the most expensive outfit because there are brands/offbrands to choose from. I, personally, do not care as long as you feel awesome wearing it than impressing someone! I do wish for I could wear it with someone but maybe someday haha. I guess this is a brief explanation on my take. :D
