Ordinary life of high school students when in all honesty it is nothing but normal. theirs a kindergarten genius who built her own mom with a giant gear in her back and cake in her limbs and high school students who have some serious problems and a talking cat.

Emma, Norman, Ray, and many other "siblings" live at an isolated orphanage cut off from the outside world. They live a charmed life surrounded by friends and watched over by Mama, their caretaker, until they leave the house for a foster family by the age of twelve.

The original 7-volume manga Miyazaki wrote before making the movie based mostly on events from the first book. Tells the story of princess Nausicaa on an Earth well into our future and her surviving and helping in the wars ofthe times while discovering the mystery, horrors, and wonders of both the past and future of what is yet to come for the people of her world.

In the post-apocalyptic future, large parts of the world have been swallowed up by forests of poisonous fungi. The remaining humans live near the fungus and its monstrous insectoid inhabitants, trying to prevent its spread.
