true, especially when the comedy overshadows the romantic aspect of the show just makes it fall flat.
haven't heard of most of those but i've seen bits and pieces of code geass, fma brotherhood.

my favorite anime are tenchi universe, excel saga, fruits basket and ah!my goddess.
as for genre i'd say romance with a hint of comedy

As for the others, I have yet to see... ah! Romance is my favorite too. Although I usually prefer mine without comedy. Rarely is a romcom done well. You could say I have high standards I guess.
My favorite romances would be anime like Tsuki ga Kirei, Da Capo, Clannad, and Snow White with Red Hair.
I also love shonen, and my faves would be Code Geass, FMA Brotherhood, Hunter x Hunter, and Seven Deadly sins.
