Yeah I guess it depends how it's being made. When plasma with antidotes were first being used the product wasn't as great but later they started making a better product with a higher titer concentration of the antibodies in it in order to try to get a better effect. Personally based off the data here I think the reason it worked in my area is because most likely the specific strain of that coronoavirus most likely was the most common one spreading at the time so when people donated they donated antibodies to the most common strain so if people with the same strain get that plasma it most likely actually helped. But if it's at a place with the virus mutating to new variants it seems highly probably the plasma will be useless. It's interesting though you solve one problem and cause another. I was lucky I never got the virus even though I was working in a hospital where it was everywhere infecting doctors and nurses and staff. I think because I'm In a lab and we take even stricter precautions than everyone else to begin with that's probably what helped. Our lab has always gotten specimens with known C diff, Turbuculosis etc type things so probably are safety measures along with masks probably made us the safest people there lol.

LaughingMan @laughingman_ddd Lmao yes, it did make you guys the safest there 0w0 And I see, yes that doesn make sense. And the antibodies are probably not working here cause the virus is mutating quickly. There are so many strains here =_=;; problems of high population =_=;; We are expecting two new strains to rise by august end which will probably cause the 3rd wave here.

LaughingMan @laughingman_ddd And yeah, it mutating here is a bad news for the entire world so RIP.

Twice?? Sheesh that sucks well good to see you made it through. I'm still under treatment for GERD however I'm using a less powerful medicine an H2 blocker instead of a PPI. It has no side effects like the PPIs so I prefer it and it works better for me for some reason. The doctors in my hospital have been using plasma with covid antibodies and they are surprisingly effective in keeping dire patients alive, I've seen a few patients basically come back from near death from it so even though it's just speculation it seems to have a beneficial effect. Besides the vaccine it seems to be the only real treatment that has an actual observable way to fight the virus at the moment.
laughingman_ddd
LaughingMan @laughingman_ddd Yeah, but it was during the early days of covid, a long time before vaccines came out. After being vaccinated, I haven't got covid. I see, well yes H2 blocker is less powerful and normally has more side effects than PPI, but I guess you couldn't tolerate PPIs, well it's different for everyone. Ohh interesting, that treatment is being tried out here as well, but currently it's not giving much success. Rather steroids are being given cautiously to treat the inflamation and has some good success. But, that also made the unchecked usage of steroids on covid patients high in the less known hospitals and villages, and predisposed them to the Black fungus. So black fungus has also become quite the issue here post covid + steroid treatment.
