i mean, i know the older stuff was good, but it doesnt have the depth that a lot of modern animation. Star Vs. is unique in that it makes you sympathise with the "bad guys", it makes you sympathise with actual monsters. not to mention its the best version of a magical girl fish out of water story wev got. also toffee is.... i cant even get into that *pictures shirtless toffee* https://i.pinimg.com/originals/3d/d0/05/3dd005f01a920d354b42930a52a65017.gif SU has really awesome action (an episode even being animated partly by Trigger studios ffs) and positive messages ingrained in there plots, along with stevens trouble having to fill in the large shoes his mother left behind, and having to deal with the consequences of her actions. its not a show that spoon feeds its audience, no one in that show is perfect, everyone does wrong things (except for steven but still xD). even the villains become redeemable, its a show that has action sequences but that shows that things can be talked through, which is very rare in cartoons, east and west. the idea that you can use your mind to solve a problem, not your fists, which is a similar message Chalkzone (whos got the chalk?????????) had. not to mentioning the sheer amount of foreshadowing thats fucking saturated in this show, its one of the reasons i love it so much. i can watch an episode and theory craft and find all the little bits that hint to the future. i think a great show leaves you thinking about it days after it aired. https://media1.giphy.com/media/W5z0uKwTIvasE/giphy.gif?cid=3640f6095c372b7f373358736f89de73 gravity falls (my favorite of the three) is crazy and imaginative and conspiracy based and give little hints and actual ciphers and backwards speech you can actually look up to see what they are, cute little easter eggs. the humors really on point too. bill cipher is the best western villain in a cartoon as well. it only has two seasons and has an amazing 3 part ending. https://i.imgur.com/SugdXdJ.gif all of these shows as well have a ton of anime/gaming references because these were people like you, who grew up on craig mccracken and gendi and anime and gaming, and it really reflects on their work
